 HYDRA-ALERT™ Jr. (EON-3067HS)

-
You Must Know When Its Time to Rehydrate
-
Eliminate the Risk of Dehydration or Overhydration

The Acumen Advantage
The Hydra-Alert™ Jr. (EON-3067HS) with Fluid Check™ is the ideal tool for monitoring and reporting on the rate of dehydration during any physical activity. An Acumen exclusive, Fluid Check™ accurately monitors the key elements that effect fluid loss.

The Hydra-Alert™ Jr. (EON-3067HS) calculates and displays fluid loss in ounces/milliliter, and as a percentage of total body weight lost in fluid ounces/ milliliter. Studies show, and experts agree, that themselves during and after exercise. Even the lowest levels of dehydration can negatively impact physical performance. A decrease in body weight from fluid loss of 1%-2% will lead to:

  • Loss of muscle strength
  • Inefficient oxygen consumption
  • Reduced endurance
  • Diminished physical performance

Guard Against Heatstroke and Heat Exhaustion

Adding to Acumen's reputation for innovation, Hydra-Alert™ Jr. (EON-3067HS) feature H.I (Heat Index). This innovative feature accurately reports on the degree of risk associated with training and exercising in the heat. Dividing risk into four separate levels - Caution, Extreme Caution, Danger and Extreme Danger, the H.l. feature reports on the level of caution essential for safe training in heat and humidity. The Hydra-Alert™ Jr. (EON-3067HS) can help maintain proper hydration and avoid the onset of heat stress related injuries during any physical activity.

  • Current resesarch indicates a strong relationship between heart rate and fluid loss.

Hydration and Physical Performance

Debilitating effects associated with dehydration include:

  • Diminished cardiac output
  • Increased body temperature
  • Elevated heart rate
  • Inaccurate perceived exertion

Maintaining proper hydration is essential for healthy cardiovascular and metabolic funciton. The following results of a recent study detail the impact of inadequate hydration at various stages of body dehydration.

1-2% loss body weight Decrease in endurance, work capacity and oxygen consumption, decreased ability to sweat and to regulate body temperature
3% loss body weight Continued decrease in physical endurance performance and decrease in ability to regulate body temperature
4% loss body weight Large decrease in physical endurance performance and oxygen consumption
5% loss body weight Possible muscle cramps, onset of heat exhaustion
More than 6% loss Possible heat exhaustion, heat stroke, hyperthermia, fainting and coma
